AGE Concern Advocacy Service provides advice and information about issues that are of concern to older people. confidential ● independent ● free of charge What can an advocate do for you? The advocate can represent your views and concerns and support you with making choices and decisions. You can have help to write letters, fill-in forms, make phone calls and negotiate with other agencies. Advice and support are available with the following issues: Residential/Nursing Care Homes (paying for care, transition to residential care) Community Care (eligibility, assessment and charging procedures) Health (access to services, rights to treatment, age discrimination) Housing (access to information, sign-posting to other service providers) Information on other services with expertise in older people’s issues, and other Age Concern services, such as Welfare Rights.
