Ospreys Group
Hi everyone, I've just heard that there's a 3rd egg in the nest today. Steve.
Hi everyone, I was watching the Osprey-nest from my house yesterday and saw the male return with a fish which he passed over to the female. She then left the centre of the nest and flew away to feed. The male then settled deep into the nest cup and I could see him turning eggs and then settling down to incubate. This was later confirmed, with the news that on Friday night, when the nest TV monitor was switched on for the first time, there was one egg present in the nest. This was joined by a second egg on Saturday. Hopefully there will be a 3rd egg laid, either today or tomorrow. With an average incubation period of 39 days, all being well the 1st egg should hatch on or about the 23rd of May. Best wishes, Steve. You'll all be pleased to hear that Rutland released male Osprey 11(98) is reunited with his mate of last year and back on the nest this morning. All the best, Steve Hi Everybody, I'm pleased to let you know that there is an Osprey back on the Glaslyn nest. I first sighted the bird at about 9am today, the 29th. It looks like the female. I'll let you know when I see the male. All the best, Steve I've just been closer to the nest and can confirm the returned, unrung, female Osprey as being the same bird as last year. She returned to the nest area from inland with a good-sized brown-trout which she took to one of her favourite perches, (pic attached) before being moved-on by a scavenging crow. Hi, I just thought that everyone would like to know that the "Ospreys are back in Galloway" male osprey, BS was seen today Sunday 26th March. He was at the on the nest with a fish, looking fit and well. We now have to cross our fingers and hope that the female is seen in the next few days. 24th June 2005 I'm sorry to say that Emyr was mistaken with his sighting of the 3rd Osprey chick and that there are actually only 2. Both chicks are doing very well and are growing rapidly and beginning to move around the nest. There have been several sightings of a 2nd male in the vicinity of the main nest. Steve. |
